Hibernation
Hibernation allows the animal to energy during periods of food scarcity or cold weather when there’s not much to do, when animals eat lots of extra food to fat stores for hibernation. This fat will the animal the whole winter so there has to be enough. Hibernation is most commonly observed in some mammals, but some reptiles and amphibians also hibernation-like behavior.
