The well-known physicist Albert Einstein once said, “The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education”, which has attracted numerous controversies and attention from the public. In my opinion, this quote means that traditional education impedes the creativity of a child and does not allow building imagination.
First and foremost, I think it is because of many successful people such as William Shakespeare, Steven Jobs and Abraham Lincoln dropout from schools but still achieved success in their lives that illustrates the truth of Einstein’s saying. Nowadays, many education institutions are structured that only teach students stressed rote memorization rather than any analytical and creative skills. Although potentially positive impact that traditional education system has must be taken into account, I reckon that one should follow his instincts and nature to realize one’s true potential. For example, a well-known philosopher once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge”, which has a significant influence on my childhood.
Moreover, another factor should be considered is the psychological reason, which in other words, students are stressed and pressured due to the education system and their parents’ expectation, which has caused a considerable burden on children. Our education system should facilitate and encourage students to pursue their dreams with passionate not force them to adopt the knowledge and certain career paths. A recent research published in The Scientist has revealed that there are 80% higher chances for a child to success if he has interest and passion for doing something.
In conclusion, I hold the view that one should choose their desired profession without being interfered by the education system, parents, and society. Only in this way could a person achieve success.
