Nowadays, climate change has attracted numerous controversies and drawn the attention from the public. Some people believe that it is important to learn the reasons causing climate change in order to reduce it while others hold the view that it is essential to reduce the consequences of climate change and help people to cope with the inevitable natural disasters in order to save people’s lives. In my opinion, I believe both aspects are important due to environmental and humanistic reasons.
First and foremost, it has been argued that the environmental reason is why I think it is important to learn. The factors causing climate change must be taken into account when thinking of studying climate change. I reckon that climate change has enormously harmed people’s lives in many ways. According to Scientific America 2014, it is reported that there were many factors including the increasing greenhouse gas emission and over-exploited and burning of fossil fuels, contributing to climate change as these behaviours have released large amount of carbon dioxide, which results in the increase of the temperature of our earth and sea level leading to flood and river erosion.
Moreover, another reason should be considered is the humanistic factor, which in other words, it is important to learn to reduce the impact of climate change to save people’s lives when facing a natural disaster such as floods. As far as society is concerned, the ultimate aim of sustainable development of our world is to strike a balance between human demand and nature capacity. For instance, a recent research published in The Scientist reveals that our society becomes more cautious after every disaster occurred by giving appropriate training and introducing technologies to help people to protect themselves, which dramatically lessen the impact of inevitable disasters.
In conclusion, I hold the view that it is important to learn the factors causing climate change and how to reduce the impact of it because of environmental and humanistic reasons. To address this issue, the government, and the society should make a concerted effort to reduce climate change.
